Impatience & Rage

Updated: Dec 30, 2024

Have you been guilty of getting impatient with your children over something as miniscule as them just calling for you, or not cleaning up after themselves?

Let me ask this also, do you find that everyday that you travel in traffic to and from work is becoming increasingly frustrating?

Why do you think this is?

…Because you’re burnt out

Do you really think that if everything in your life was going great, you weren’t exhausted and weren’t working this hard regardless of your low energy that you would be this impatient or short fused?

I know for myself that I am less irritable and less concerned about my driving speed when I’m feeling good, positive and feeling rested. In fact, I’m hogging the right lane, enjoying the moment and not subjecting myself to the game of the passing lane if my vibration and energy is up. Or I stop and look my child eye-to-eye to genuinely give a heartfelt listening ear when my energy is good. I am patient and utilize those moments to teach, instead of correct or discipline.

I’m not saying that it’s not going to happen from time to time, but if you feel that it has almost become a habit to quickly react with anger, give short answers, lose your cool and lose patience “because you mind as well do it yourself”, you may need to step back and review what the bigger issue is.

These are small symptoms to a bigger issue. Are you exhausted all of the time and don’t know how to find balance? Do you feel like your life is always you against the clock of time? Are there situations in your life that are causing you pain and pressure, but you’re taking the frustrations out on other people or things? Do you feel like, if you can’t control things then nothing will ever be done right? Are you burnt out, but don’t know how to pull yourself out of it?

You need to get real, raw and honest on what the real issues are! Because its no longer about the other person, but its more about you and your thoughts, feelings and beliefs.

You need to become the master of your life! Start taking ownership of your feelings, and take 100% responsibility of your life. You still hold the power and have control over your life, but you’re giving power to external factors, rather than getting real about your inner world. Start becoming a do it now person when it comes to your self care and self development! YOU need to take care of YOU, and clean that up! You need to be able to live life on a full tank, not on E.

How?

Here’s my list:

·        Morning routine: Set at least 15 minutes of solitude (meditation, sitting outside to enjoy nature and silence, journaling, etc.) before answering to the world’s demands. Whether those demands are your phone, kids, spouse, chores, etc. Make you a priority first!

·        Exercise with intention: It doesn’t have to be a hardcore workout, but at least give yourself 10-15 minutes of moving, whether it’s a good long stretch, walking, yoga, etc. Walking around to do tasks at work do not count, because that’s something that you have to do versus giving intention to the movement that this is supposed to fuel your mind and body.

·        Make time for what makes you YOU: If you like to paint, read a book, write poetry, etc., then you need to carve out a time each day where you set that boundary with your family to allow you that time. Even if it’s as little as 15 minutes. Creating and doing something for yourself not only opens up your soul, creates joy, and raises your vibration, but it re-establishes your self-identity. You are an individual outside of your roles! And let go of the guilt! You’re not being selfish, but you’re actually being selfless! You are not only making yourself whole, which will give your children the best of you, but it will teach them to do the same for themselves. We want our children to learn independence and to self-advocate, this will help influence that.

·        Gratitude: Gratitude is the #1 successor of all those who are successful in their lives. Practice stating 5 things that you are grateful for every single day! This raises your vibration, and your energy.

·        Night To-do list: Each night before you go to bed, be proactive, and write down your to do list, so you’re ahead of the game for the next day. You won’t have to scramble as much and give yourself added stress throughout the day trying to keep everything together. Having a daily planner does wonders!

·        Evaluate what’s not serving you: Sometimes we have things happening in our lives that we don’t want to face that are a factor in why we feel the way we feel. Maybe our jobs, relationships, dealing with family members or finances are creating a dark cloud over you and clouding your judgment to react properly. You may be taking your frustrations out on the wrong people or don’t have the energy for the right things because your exhausted from fighting other battles. Get clear on what is serving you, and find a way to cope, mend or let go of what is no longer serving you. Counseling or coaching can support you with this!

·        Heal the anger:  If you’re angry and having a hard time releasing it, it maybe time to do some shadow work to get really clear what those feelings are truly about. Are you feeling insignificant in some areas of your life? Do you feel like life is slipping away? Do you feel out of control? Are you holding onto old pain from your past and it’s creating blocks in your life? It’s time to get clear on what those are, heal, remove them and then replace with a new story! You may want to seek help from a therapist or life coach for that. I offer life coach sessions and NLP work that helps people with this all the time, don’t be afraid to reach out. You’re worth the time and the importance to make yourself priority!
