Burnout happens to a lot of us that have more on our plate than we are supposed to handle. Maybe the kids are back to school, and that also means extracurricular activities will also be adding the pressure and stealing your time and energy. Or just struggling with work-life balance regardless.
But how do you know you are rising to burn out?
There are 3 holistic cues to review to see if you resonate with them.
1) Emotional cue:
Quick to anger...
Do you feel attacked when I say that? You don't want to be the yelling mom, but why don't those kids ever move quicker when you want them to? Or listen when you have taught them the schedule multiple times? Why does everything fall on you to do!
Do you ever just snatch something that you should let your child do to learn and develop their own skills? Because it's easier if you just do it yourself?
Don't worry we are all guilty of this!
And this doesn't just apply as parents, but with any situation! Helping a friend, family or co-worker. Sometimes inconveniences, having to fix things constantly, having to chronically utilize your energy and emotions is exhausting!!
If you said yes to many of these scenarios - heeerrreee's your sign!
2) Physical Cues:
You feel chronic fatigue, but you wrestle to sleep at night - you may be experiencing burn out
You get tension headaches frequently
You rather grab fast food then spend another 30 minutes over a hot stove
You forget to shower, drink water, or catch yourself skipping meals
These maybe signs of burn out
3) Cognitive Cues:
You walk into a room to do something, and you forgot why you went in there?
You write down "to do" lists, but they become more like "wish lists"
Your mind is constantly reviewing the things you need to do that you can't even relax or enjoy everything that you're doing
You tend to drive in the car, and don't remember the drive, because your body was on auto-pilot while your mind was elsewhere
When you get home, you tend to take a few minutes to sit in the car alone in the driveway before going into the house, just prepare to take on more tasks as you immediately step foot in
Conclusion:
If you resonated with most of these, you are not alone, but you don't have to suffer alone either!
Awareness is the first step! Hopefully this blog gave you that today
Secondly, you may have to remove the guilt you feel to invest in your own self.
Because it will take self care, time to self, loosening the reins, and re-organizing your schedule.
I know, I know - BUT how?!?!
Did you know that I have expertise in self care, self worth, removing the guilt, learning your value and worth, and making that To do list into a "done list"?
I teach you all of that in my 4 week 1:1 life coaching program
